Trussville, Alabama - Employees from SCA Performance and McSweeney Designs caravanned to the Super Target in Trussville this afternoon to support The McSweeney Foundation and shop for Christmas gifts for 100 kids in the greater Birmingham, AL area.
“We like for our contributors to see how their gifts are making a difference,” said Deidre Leo, The McSweeney Foundation’s administrator. “What better way to do that than let them shop with the money they’ve given to provide Christmas for nearly a hundred kids in our community.”

The shopping destination was Target of Trussville. Upon arrival, SCA and McSweeney Designs employees crowded the store’s entrance, grabbed shopping carts, and were off to the races – filling their carts with gifts both large and small for boys and girls ranging in age from less than one year to twelve years.
The event was such a sight to behold that it garnered the attention of many of the store’s patrons. After learning the details of the endeavor, one woman even insisted that she be able to help; and she purchased a bicycle to donate on the spot. “What y’all are doing is a good thing,” She said. “I just have to get in on it.”
Through Target’s bountiful generosity, The McSweeney Foundation was able to significantly increase the number of children it will provide Christmas for this season. For that, Target deserves many thanks.
All gifts purchased will be given to support Church of the Highland’s “Giving Hope” ministry. “The operation [Church of the Highlands] runs is so well-organized, we decided to partner with them instead of doing our own thing,” said Matt McSweeney, one of The McSweeney Foundation Chairmen. “Doing so will allow us to reach as many families as we can with the joy of Christmas.”
